Engagement

Community

We are proud to serve our local communities.

Our team is dedicated to making the world a better place, with individual team members involved with a variety of organizations from local nonprofits to national charity organizations.

As a company, ARG also maintains partnerships with non-profit groups located across our office locations, including:

Professional

ARG is active in many professional organizations within the fields of architecture and historic preservation.

Our company is an active participant with the US Green Building Council (USGBC). We also value the individual contributions of each of our employees. Our team members serve as members and leaders in numerous professional societies recognized both locally and internationally, such as the following:

Pro-Bono

From the beginning, ARG has found ways to further support our community partners and clients.

We have assisted with grant applications, provided conceptual design solutions, and supported fundraising efforts for preservation issues. One of our most memorable projects was a collaboration with At the Crossroads (ATC), a Bay Area organization with the mission of providing resources and support to homeless youth.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

ARG strives to establish a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment that permeates the firm’s culture and reflects the work that we do.

Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Task Force provides our team with anti-bias resources pertaining to the fields of heritage architecture, planning, and conservation. Our Task Force consists of members from all offices who represent multiple disciplines and staff levels, including ARG leadership.

A majority woman-owned business, ARG continues to identify opportunities to engage with and promote the inclusion and equity of historically underrepresented voices.

Our Pacific Northwest team dove deep into the history of African American Resources in Portland, Oregon in a new Multiple Property Documentation (MPD) nomination. Read about the process on our blog.

Sustainability

Sustainability

The parallels between preservation and sustainability are truly compatible objectives in the field of architecture and preservation.

At ARG, we understand the critical relationship between preservation and sustainability. Our company is now part of the AIA’s 2030 Commitment as a step toward deepening our promise to build upon sustainability efforts in the wake of climate change.

Our Sustainability Action Plan sets forth goals for continually improving our practice to bring our work to net zero carbon and to create healthy work environments. See some of our notable sustainable design projects.
