Assembly Bill 1999

Join ARG in supporting Assembly Bill 1999, which would authorize up to a 30% state income tax credit for the rehabilitation of certified historic structures. AB 1999 is a way to celebrate California’s rich history, revitalize its historic architecture, and enliven local communities. Please visit California Preservation Foundation’s website for more information about AB 1999, the benefits of historic tax credits, and how you can contact your representatives to voice your support.

At ARG, we have seen how other tax incentives, such as the Federal rehabilitation tax credit, have benefited our clients and local communities. Two examples include the 1930s Santa Fe Coast Lines Hospital in Boyle Heights (now called Linda Vista Community Hospital, left) and the Altenheim Senior Housing facility in Oakland (right). The historic tax credits were instrumental in the financial feasibility of these projects. The implementation of a state tax credit in California could further enhance the benefits of rehabilitation projects.
